Background

Creative Journey

Born Monique Kennedy in the late 80s, Moken Marsai's professional journey in the art world began in late 2022, marked by her exploration of AI image generators as a means of artistic expression. Raised on the island of Jamaica, Moken's upbringing was imbued with creativity, fostered by her parents' encouragement and exposure to diverse cultural experiences. Her father's amateur art collection and her mother's dedication to early childhood education instilled in her a deep appreciation for art and learning from an early age.

In her formative years, Moken's interest in creativity extended beyond traditional art forms, as she found herself drawn to the world of fashion. Experimenting with clothing and expressing herself through style, she began to cultivate her unique aesthetic sensibilities.

Despite initially gravitating towards science in high school, Moken's passion for art was ignited by the work of Jamaican Art Director Alia Michele, prompting her transition and eventual pursuit of a career in the arts. She furthered her

artistic education by attending Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts part-time during her last year of high school, immersing herself in the world of creativity.

After completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) in 2011, Moken embarked on a career in branding and marketing. Utilizing her creative skills and visionary mindset, she worked as a Creative Writer and Conceptualizer, crafting compelling narratives and innovative concepts for various campaigns and projects. Her contributions played a pivotal role in the success of numerous initiatives, earning her recognition and acclaim within the industry.

Moken's experiences in branding and marketing provided her with invaluable insights into the intersection of art and commerce, further fueling her passion for creative expression. This period of professional growth enriched her artistic journey and equipped her with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the dynamic landscape of the creative industry.
